Geography
Geography Lead: Mrs G Lineham
What does Geography look like in our ACORN curriculum – INTENT & IMPLEMENTATION
A: We learn about physical and geographical processes, fostering curiosity and fascination for the world we live in.
C: We equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people and environments.
O: We read about our local area, the UK, Europe the World and key geographical concepts through our sticky vocabulary which we can then communicate in writing and orally.
R: We know children will become more skilled in understanding the relationships between different places and the impact on how people have changed landscapes over time
N: We understand that arming children with powerful knowledge about the world around them helps them to recognise their own role in becoming a responsible global citizen.
IMPACT
By the time pupils leave Green Oaks, they will have developed locational knowledge, fieldwork and geographical skills. They will also have an understanding of how the world is changing and how we can help to save it. Confidently, they will recall information and take forward the skills they have learnt to learn further in the future.
“We learn about the storms.”
“We are learning about our European neighbours.”
“We get challenged to describe things we know about without any texts- facts from our head.”
