History
History Lead: Mrs G Lineham
What does History look like in our ACORN curriculum – INTENT & IMPLEMENTATION
A: We learn about past events and how it has formed today’s culture.
C: We develop our sense of identity by learning how history has shaped today’s society.
O: We read about changes over time and learn about key historical concepts through our sticky vocabulary which we can then communicate in writing and orally.
R: We understand how relationships have changed over time, including our economy, class, politics, and race.
N: We recognise how our health has changed over time by learning about past events and attitudes. We build aspirations by learning about historical figures and how they have influenced us. We look at how individuals have navigated through difficult times and influenced the future.
IMPACT
When our pupils leave us, they will have developed their knowledge of historical events and recall their learning. They will have an understanding of how the past can shape the future, and understand how historians gather information and use historical skills to do so.
“We have been learning about Walter Tull- that he was the first black man to be the head of the war.”
“I enjoy that there is always something new to learn about. History is always continuing.”
“I look around at the information and the clues…my knowledge organiser or a text that we have read.”
